Artistic Focus

Patricia Garey, uses a variety of mediums, including watercolor, acrylics, and pen and ink, to explore a scene, sometimes moving from one medium to another in the same work to capture the magic of the moment. Painting on location in Plein Air events and travel sketching allows her to immerse herself in the moment and paint a response to a specific time and place, an invitation for the viewer to experience the moment too. Studio work is an opportunity to develop a scene in greater depth and scale.

Patricia’s artistic journey reflects a transition from the prevailing abstract expressionism of her art school days to a more personal exploration of life’s beauty, joy, and pathos. This evolution in her art invites viewers into a world filled with wonder and joy, encouraging them to experience the moment as she sees it.

Arts Involvement

Patricia has a rich history in the arts, serving as an art instructor, corporate art consultant, gallery and frame shop owner, and professional artist.

Professional Affiliations

Patricia is actively involved with the Alliance Fine Art Gallery, the Hannibal Arts Council Board of Directors, and is an associate member of the American Watercolor Society.
